Christmas 2007

We had several tea parties with people who wanted to see our tree. Here you can see we are wearing our special Christmas party collars and we are entertaining Miss Snookie at tea. She had people cookies and we had dog cookies. We love Miss Snookie. We love cookies, too!

We had a nice Christmas this year. Aunt Gerry brought Goldie and Sparky with her for Christmas. We all behaved very well together. We like Bob's treats.

We had our usual doggie Christmas tree. Every year it seems to get bigger. We received many nice gifts. Ilene helped us open them.

Our nephews Chris and Jack, and their parents came to our house for Christmas. Our friend Gil also came to visit. He enjoyed getting to know Chris. (See Blessing of the Animals, Oct., 2006)

We went to visit our friend Bee in the nursing home. Chris went with us and so did Sparky.
Some 2007 Pictures

Jasper has a new good friend!

Whenever Ilene eats, we keep our eyes on her!

Jack covered me up so I could be cozy.

We went to a pig roast at the Tiedgens. Lots of good food!
August 30, 2007
August 30, 2007 was my ninth birthday. Jasper and I went out to dinner with Ilene and Bob. We went to Burgundy Bistro and ate at the outside table. This picture shows me with my Yappy Birthday Pupcake from "Chew on This" dog barkery. I let Jasper have his picture taken with the cake too. I even let him have a piece of cake. It was quite good. I had quite a nice birthday! Maggie

April 17, 2007 - Election Day
Here we are with Pat Collier, Ilene, Art Byrd, Fred Veazey and Linzey Jones, President of Olympia Fields. We are outside our precinct, thanking people for voting. Jasper  is urging voters to vote "Yes" on the Village referendum.
I (Maggie) also have a Vote Yes sign and on the other side, I'm urging people to vote for Brace Clement for school board. Ilene is explaining that we can't go too close to the building because that's against the rules.

October, 2006
We went to Grand Rapids for our nephew Chris's tenth birthday.
www.chriscribbs.com  The day before his birthday, we went to visit Grandma Goldie in the nursing home.
On the way there, we stopped at McDonalds and got food. We really like the chicken McNuggets. Ilene got a big Mac. We paid very close attention to be sure she was eating it properly. Goldie and Sparky were helping too.

Blessing of the animals at St. John's Lutheran Church, Country Club Hills Oct. 1, 2006

We went with Gil and Lars to the blessing of the animals at St. John's Lutheran Church in Country Club Hills. Those iguanas sure like the sun and Jojo! Jojo is giving Lars a kiss. Ilene says that's just the way people are. If they like you, they kiss you! It's OK with us!
This is a nice picture of Gil (Godzilla Ignacious Lizard) and Lars. Aren't they Handsome! This is the minister who did the blessing and his family, including his Jack Russell terrier. He was very active. Actually Ilene didn't get very many pictures because we were pretty active too. We really wanted to visit with all the other animals, but we had to stay by Ilene.
This is another dog who was blessed. I wish we had more pictures. There was a cat and half a dozen other dogs. We liked the singing too. It was nice, even if there wasn't anything to eat!

Dog Days of Homewood 8-19-2006

On Saturday, Aug.19, 2006 we went to Dog Days of Homewood. This time Jasper wore the fancy collar. Maybe we need another fancy collar!
We even saw Joey, Dillon and Bogey from the dog park there. We had a great time!

Mutts in Margaritaville 8-13-2006

On Sunday, Aug.13, 2006 we attended Mutts in Margaritaville in Frankfort. It was sponsored by Chew on This. We had a great time!
Summer 2006
We are really enjoying the dog park. It's a big area where we can just run around without leashes. The very best part is all the other dogs that we meet. Ilene enjoys meeting their people too, because they are all dog people (Well, isn't everybody?).

The park looks great in the summer.

Holiday Season 2005

Jasper loves to chase Tink in her ball. She can go really fast!

We helped Ilene open presents at Christmas.

Bob helped clean up!

We went to Grand Rapids for Christmas with our nephews, Chris and Jack.
Jasper tells Ilene everything will be fine. Maggie is supportive too.

I think we wore Ilene out.
Here is Jasper with Jack. He didn't used to like kids, but I told him our nephews are OK.
This is the dog Christmas tree this year (2005) It has grown quite a bit! It morphs between white and colored lights. We had fun New Year's Eve. Here we are with Debbie Christian. She's our friend. She is holding her dog Scrappy and that other dog is her granddog, Kahli.

Spring 2005

We went to Grand Rapids for Easter. Some rabbit comes and hides stuff and then they run around and find it. Then everybody got dressed up nice and went to church and left me home. I was wearing a nice Easter collar with eggs on it. Seems like I could have gone with them, but you know how people are. Angel said God would have liked me to go to church. After all, what is dog spelled backwards?
Those boys sure like me and I like them. They thought I should wear those sunglasses, but I said, "I don't think so." Dorothy wore them, so that solved that problem.
We went to visit Grandma Goldie in the nursing home. I have to work pretty hard there. Everybody wants to see me and touch me. I also had to help Jack with his writing and make sure he stayed on the right page. He got a sucker, but I didn't. Sometimes life isn't fair!

Our trip south - February and March 2005
This is my first trip without Angel. Ilene didn't  take as many pictures this year.

We went to Amelia Island to get away from the cold weather. We visited our friends Kathryn and Ed. I made myself at home (they are really nice). Kathryn and Ed have two cats. Roxey is feral and we didn't see her much. This is Zeke. He was very interested in me and I thought we might be friends.
We spent a lot of time looking at each other. I don't think he liked me much, although someone said that when he was a kitten, some dogs who looked like me carried him around with his head in their mouths. I guess I see why he was a little leery of me!

Kathryn tried to help us get acquainted. We chased around a bit. Did you know cats can be kind of scary when they blow all up and want to tell you to get out of their house?

This is Sophie. She is a Chihuahua. We visited her with her people, Susie and Mike in South Carolina. They like dogs and have two big dogs living by them, too. Sophie wasn't sure she liked me, but we learned to get along.

We went outside together and we helped Susie clean up the dishes. We worked real hard and did a good job!

Easter, 2004
We went to Grand Rapids for Easter, 2004. Bob took this picture of everyone ready to go to church.  He looked good too! We didn't get to go to church. I'm not sure why. This is me in my little bed, all covered with blankets. That's Jack next to me. He covered me. He also covered Maggie with all the pillows from the couch.  She says that's OK because sometimes he drops food. If you want to see more pictures of our grandnephews, go to www.chriscribbs.com  and www.jackcribbs.com

Our Trip South - Feb. 2004

Today (2-12) we are still on Amelia Island. Here we are visiting the Florida House Inn. It is a bed and breakfast that allows pets! Everybody here really liked us! It was great. We could even go in the pub. This is us with Diane Warwick, the owner of the Florida House Inn. She would like to have you visit. Her web site is www.floridahouseinn.com Give her a visit! You can call 800-258-3301.
We bought this book written by Arfie (with Ron Kurtz). It tells how he was lost here and the Nassau Humane Society helped his story have a happy ending! Maybe we will meet him while we are here. You can order his book from Books Plus. We went there and they are really nice. Their web site is www.booksplus.net or call 904-261-0303. They do mail order and special order!
We went in lots of stores today and sniffed lots of good smells and left lots of messages. We are almost too tired to write!

Today (2-11) we are on Amelia Island in Florida.  We visited this Furry Friends Cafe in Fernandina Beach and had a really good time! They have great homemade treats and Maggie got a new collar! This is us with Ilene and Karen, the lady who owns the cafe. You can see the good stuff in the case behind us.
This is me (Angel), a little blurry because I'm moving fast! I am visiting with a beautiful dog named Lady. I followed her everywhere (Maggie is watching us). That's the most fun I had in a long time! I could have a crush on her! Here is Maggie with her new friend; a big black Labrador statue!?! I liked the real dog, Lady,  better!

Feb, 2004 Here we are in south Georgia at the Okefenokee Swamp. That is hard to spell! We saw one alligator and we sent a postcard to Bailey. It is nice not to wear coats!

Christmas, 2003

We went to Grand Rapids for Christmas. We watched TV with Ilene and Chris. Maggie got a tiger from me and I got an elephant from Maggie.
Bob had to bundle up to take us outside! We gave him a pet massager. We gave Ilene pillows with dogs like us on them!
The kids put stickers on us. We gave them the stickers.

------------------------------

This is me, Angel, with Zach, the cat. He would hiss so I could find him. Then I would chase him and he would bat me in the face. I like to play rough!  I almost wagged my tail off! It was really fun.
------------------------------------------------------

This is our Christmas tree.  It is all decorated with dogs! It has the twelve dogs of Christmas and there is even a sled dog from Alaska in the last picture. There are lots of ornaments with our pictures on them or our names.

If you come to see our tree, you can sing "Doggie Wonderland" with us and we will find a cookie or two for you. A doggie cookie, if you are a dog and a people cookie, if you are a people. We have lots of cookies!

Those are Ilene's slippers under the tree!

Doggie Wonderland
(Sing to the tune of "Winter Wonderland." Thanks Jan & Jeanne.)

Dog tags ring, are you listenin'?
In the lane, snow is glistenin'.
It's yellow, NOT white - I've been there tonight,
Marking up my winter wonderland.

Smell that tree? That's my fragrance.
It's a sign for wand'ring vagrants;
"Avoid where I pee, it's MY pro-per-ty!
Marked up as my winter wonderland."

In the meadow dad will build a snowman,
following the classical design.
Then I'll lift my leg and let it go, man,
So all the world will know it's mine-mine-mine!

Straight from me to the fence-post,
flows my natural incense boast;
"Stay off of my TURF, this small piece of earth,
I marked it as my winter wonderland.

Miscellaneous Activities

Oh boy! Did we have an exciting weekend! (This is September 8, the day after Canal Days, the annual festival in our little town of Cambridge City.)  They had lots of things going on.  The festival was on Saturday and Sunday, but this is us with Ilene on Friday Night when everybody was setting up.  This was Maggie's first ride on a golf cart.  By the end of Canal Days, she was an old pro because Bob kept taking her around with him while he was taking pictures.
Saturday night we celebrated our birthdays. Maggie's birthday is Aug. 31 and mine is Sept. 19, so we celebrate in between. Our friend Jeanne DeNapoli, from Alaska, came for a visit.  Maggie never met her before, but was ready to go home with her when she left!  Well not really, she said she thought we were all going and that's why she jumped in the car These pictures were taken at Palais Royal, where we go for our special occasions. You can see that EJ Constantin was with us, too, and that I'm pretty tired!  We had a good time with our people friends.

This is our birthday cake from the Three Dog Bakery in Indianapolis.  It was kind of small, so the words almost didn't fit!  It was a peanut butter cake (for dogs, not people!) I don't really like eating outside, so Maggie ate her piece and mine too.  She says I'm a good friend to have, because I often give her some of my food. Or, in this case, all of it.
This is us getting ready for the Dress Your Pet Contest.  We were rock stars!! Ilene is putting on my jewels in this picture.  We had guitars that played "It's a Small World " and feather boas to match our guitars.  We had jewels on our butts and signs that said "NOT QUITE *NSYNC." We're not quite sure what those signs meant (Bob wasn't either) but most people laughed when they read it.  That's good.  We like to make people laugh.  A few of my jewels are still on my butt.  I look very festive.  We sure had fun and met lots of new friends!  -
This is us at work.  We like to share this soft rug for a nap. We also have pillows to nap on, so we have a choice. It's important to get your rest.
Here I am helping to color Easter eggs with Dorothy, Ilene and Jack.  Maggie is helping too, with Dorothy, Chris and Jack. This is Easter 2003.
Here we are with Ilene at the Three Dog Bakery in Indianapolis.  They make good healthy food for dogs. They also have stuff for cats and horses! It is located at 844 Broad Ripple Avenue and their phone number is 317-466-1646. They have birthday cakes and everything.  We tried some cookies.  It was a great adventure. They also have a new store in downtown Indianapolis. They would be happy to have you visit!  If you want to see some of the stuff they have, go to www.threedog.com This is Maggie as Goldilocks.  She isn't much into costumes and this only lasted about 30 seconds.  She says maybe next year she will wear a costume longer.
This is our nephew Chris's sixth birthday party at our house.  Do you like our hats? Chris made them. We helped a little. This is me in my carrier with Ilene.  I really like my carrier.  It gets me up where I'm not under feet.  Sometimes I just go to sleep in it.  Please note it has a special hole for my tail.
This is me watching Ilene make a repair to Beary Bear back when I could see.  She also had to do a squeaky transplant for Squeaky and I watched that with rapt attention too, in case Ilene needed any help. Here we are at Christmas, 2002. Ilene made a dog Christmas tree at our house.  It is all decorated with dog ornaments and stuff.  Maggie will look for a picture of it.
This picture was taken at the Cribbs' house.  We really like to rest by Ilene's feet when she is sitting in a chair. This is us in our Chicago Bear coats.  We inherited them from EJ Constantin's dogs Stormy and Zeus, who went over the Rainbow Bridge.  They really keep us warm!

Shortly after Maggie came to live with us, we took a trip to Metamora, a small town south of Cambridge City.  We were just getting to know each other.   back to top This picture is also in Metamora, where we went for a carriage ride.  That was a first for both of us.  We liked it.  If the picture looks familiar, it went out with the Christmas cards in 2001.  I wrote the Christmas letter that year.
In the summer of 2002, we worked on Matt Strittmatter's campaign for sheriff of Wayne County.  It was a very hot summer.        back to top This is us in our signs for Matt.  We marched in four parades.  It was fun, but it was sure hot!
You could read our signs from either side.  Maggie said all the people smiled when they saw us. In November, Matt was elected sheriff.  He is a really good guy and is doing a fine job for the people of Wayne County.
