| October 31, 2008. This was another
busy year. But today was really weird. Ilene put these "costumes" on us. The
first picture shows Maggie as Goldilocks. She thought it was really dumb and
she only wore it for a minute. The next picture is me as a "hot dog." I was
kind of afraid to move and couldn't figure out what I had done to deserve
this. The third picture is Ilene in her "costume." She ran around saying<
"Woof, woof." Finally, Maggie tried on my hot dog costume. Sometimes I think
Ilene has been out in the sun too long. Maggie says don't worry. They won't
do this again for a long time. Love, Jasper |
| December, 2007. Here we are in the middle of the
silly season, or, as Ilene says, the season of excess. We dogs are creatures
who really don't need too much. Food, a nice, bed and some people to love -
that about does it. There are a lot of nice extras (treats, walks, play
time) but some good-hearted folks have gone nuts. Ilene got something in
e-mail about having a dog shower when someone is getting a new dog. That's a
little silly. A lot of people dress up their dogs all the time and get their
toenails polished and stuff. Please folks. LET DOGS BE DOGS! We go along
with costumes on Halloween and such because we know it makes you smile. We
have special collars for different seasons and I really like that. We go
lots of places with Ilene and Bob, but we do know that we are dogs. I guess
the latest thing is funerals for dogs. We know when it is time, and we cross
over the Rainbow Bridge. We are sad to leave you, but we'll be waiting for
you on the other side. Please, if you want to spend $500 or $1000 to honor
one of us, please give the money to
Best Friends, or your local humane society or a rescue group. There are
lots of dogs out there who need help and helping them is the best way to
honor us. Love, Jasper |
This
has been a very busy year. Maggie and I work very hard. We help Ilene and
Bob with everything! This is my new bed. It's in the window in "my" room. I
watch out the window all the time and tell everybody when I see squirrels,
raccoons, deer and people walking down the street. I don't know what they
would do if I wasn't here watching!
This is a picture of me with Miss Piggy and a squirrel. Well, a guy's got to
have some company. What does compromising mean? |
August, 2007 Well, the cicadas are
gone and you missed them! We stay busy, as usual. We've been visiting a lot
of people in nursing homes. They always seem glad to see us.
Last week, Maggie got sick. I was pretty worried about her. She went to the
doctor twice and got poked a few times. She could hardly walk. Ilene said it
was a bad infection. I always watch out the window and when I see anything,
I bark, Then Maggie comes and helps me bark. All she could do was lift her
head and make a couple little woofs. I'm sure glad she's better. Lots of
people said prayers for her, including me! We see a dumb raccoon that goes
through our yard almost every afternoon and I need help barking it away!
Love, Jasper |
| 6-4-07 Again we've been very busy, but
I wanted to tell you about the cicadas. We have a gazillion of them and they
are delicious! Ilene says they're yucky and Maggie says she won't eat bugs,
but they just don't know. See them all on the hostas? You can see them on
the tree. Aren't they cute with their red-orange eyes? (You can click on the
picture to make it bigger.) They are easy to catch and they are really
yummy. Ilene says they won't hurt me if I eat them, but she still thinks
eating them is yucky. Well, if you come to visit me, I'll share my cicadas
with you! Love, Jasper |

| 3-20-07 Wow! It's the first day of spring. Ilene
told me so. It's been a kind of busy winter, but I'm looking forward to
going to the dog park again. Ilene said it was too cold, We went one day
last week and it was great to see all our old friends. Ilene liked seeing
the people. Maggie and I had a conversation with Ilene. You can read about
it here. |
| 1-9-07 They tell me it's a new year. As usual,
I've been very busy. Maggie and I had a party on Dec. 10 to get toys for the
kids at Respond Now. There were a whole lot of people here, which makes it
hard when you are supposed to guard the house. I tried to be friendly and
cuddle up to a few. They all seemed nice, but it was sure confusing. Then I
saw Debbie and Terry (but no Scrappy) and I was really glad to see them!
Finally someone I knew! I just licked them all over! People gave us lots of
cool toys and stuff for Christmas. Ilene says we are really lucky. One lady
named Joanie made special dog Christmas cookies all shaped like trees and
bells and stuff. They were really good. I hope we have that Christmas again.
It was pretty cool. |
| 10-10-06 Gee, I had a birthday! Ilene says we
don't know when my real birthday is, so we celebrate on the day I came to
live with my forever family. I didn't get any cards, but Maggie says
maybe next year. We had a cake and sparky shooting candle for Maggie's
birthday, but she was pretty old. |
8-15-06 It's hard to keep up with this blog. I'm
so busy. Both Bob and Ilene say I'm a really good dog now. I think even
Maggie likes me some. She lets me share the place in the car where she likes
to be. Sometimes when it thunders she comes by me. I don't know why she gets
so upset, but I try to make her feel better.
Our nephew, Chris, came to stay with us for a while. He went to the dog park
with us and took some really cool pictures. You can see them
here. |
5-31-06 I hear blog's are all the rage. So this is
my blog and I'll tell you what I think. First of all, we have an animal
communicator. I only dealt with her once, but that is all it took. I get the
communicating stuff. I always know what Ilene is going to do. I know when
she plans to take us to the park. By the way, it looks way different now.
There are leaves on the trees and nice green grass. There are also lots of
other dogs, usually. Most of them are big. Ilene says I need a step stool to
sniff some of their butts (which, of course, is a major pastime at the dog
park.) We had a lot of rain last night and the park was pretty wet today.
There was quite a storm and then there was a big crash and the lights went
out. The lights stayed out for a long time and we found out a tree had
fallen on our roof. It broke the roof a little bit, but didn't get all the
way into the house. There's sure been a lot of people around here
today fixing stuff!
I still like to run, but I found that Ilene and Bob like it much better if I
just run around our house in our yard. They say I'm a really good dog now. I
was before, but they just didn't know it.
OK. Now I want to talk about poop. Why is it that people like poop so much?
Every time I make some, they carefully wrap in up and put it in a special
bag to save. I tried making it in the house when Ilene and Bob both went
away, but that just made everybody mad! I was just trying to help! I'm a
pretty little dog and it's hard to make enough poop to keep them happy. All
I can do is the best I can! If you figure this out, please let me know!
Love, Jasper

Feb. 2006 Let me tell you about the dog park. It's name is
Rover's Run and it is in Homewood. We went there for the first time in
January. We had to see Dr. Heckler and have him sign a paper that said we
were healthy first.
I really like to run. When we go outside at home, if I'm not on a leash, I
just run and run all different places and then I come home. When I'm ready,
that is. Bob and Ilene call me and call me, but sometimes I have really
important exploring to do, so I can't come right away. Then Bob gets mad.
What we have here is a failure to communicate. I tell him that I have
important things to do, but he just doesn't get it. We're working on it. I
haven't given up on him yet.
Anyway, when we go to the dog park, my leash comes off and I can run and
run. I guess there are about two acres there. I mostly just run around where
my people are. Maggie and I whiz all over and poop and smell all the good
smells. There are often some really big dogs there. They all want to greet
us at once and it was a little intimidating at first. But when they bother
us we just tell them that's enough and they usually leave us alone. When
Maggie tells them, I come running and chase them away. I was a stray dog,
you know, and I know how to deal with them. Maggie is a real lady and they
shouldn't bother her! I love Maggie.
Maybe
you can come and run with me some day! Love, Jasper |

Here we are at Rover's Run. It has a fence all around it. I'm sure it will
look prettier in the spring! |

You can see it is pretty big. There is a large golden way at the back of the
picture, to give you an idea of the size. Of course, you know to click on it
and make it bigger. |

I can get out if I want to. I just look and there are places where I can get
under the fence. I did that once, but Ilene said she would rather I stay in
the park with her. |
This
is me in my Christmas collar. We have collars for all occasions. Maggie told
me. I don't know why. |
We
went to a nursing home to visit Grandma Goldie. She is Bob's mother.
Ilene let's me sit on people's laps. I like to cuddle and those folks seem
to enjoy that! |

I like to curl up on pillows. If the pillow is by a window, That is even
better> |
I like to ride in the back window of the car.
I can see a lot from there! I tried to jump in the window in the back of the
Cribbs's van, but there was no shelf and I ended up on the floor. It was
kind of a surprise.

Many dog butts -- I celebrate
By kissing your face.
I sound the alarm!

Garbage man -- come to kill us all--
Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!

Whiz on each bush, Hello, Spot-
Sniff this and weep
I hate my choke chain--
Look, world, they strangle me! Ack

On your foot-- no greater bliss--well,
Maybe catching cats.
